All rooms have en suite facilities. TV points and telephone points. You can arrange to have a phone and internet access in your room. You will be responsible for the costs of BT installation, calls and line rental.

You are able to bring your own personal possessions with you, you can also decorate your room as you choose, if you do not like, or wish to change the current decor we can arrange this for you, you will be required to meet the costs of this.

All rooms within the Home are cleaned daily, by our Housekeeping staff. Cleaning will only take place at a time that suits you.

Before Moving in

Deciding to move into a Care Home is a major decision, at Dundonald house we will ensure you have all the information you require to assist you in making that decision. If you are unsure or wish to discuss any aspects of the information provided, the Home Manager or Administrator will be happy to talk with you in person.

Prior to your admission to the Home, you will be visited by a Senior member of the Nursing Staff who will discuss your Care needs with you, if you are willing and give your consent, she will also contact other Professionals involved in your care. Such as your Social Worker, G.P, or Community Nurse. Any information exchanged will be treated in the strictest confidence.

This allows us to ensure we can provide you with a plan of Care that can support your needs now and in the foreseeable future.

Trial Visits

You will also be offered the opportunity to visit the Home and view our facilities. You may wish to chat to other Residents to get their views on Dundonald House.

Meals and Snacks

Meals are prepared on a daily basis. You will have the opportunity to discuss your individual requirements and food preferences. If you require a special diet this will be provided to you. Staff will be aware of your food preferences.

We aim to provide you with a nutritionally balanced and varied diet that suits your needs. There are always two or more choices at each meal and additional items if you wish. Our Chef will be happy to discuss your requirements with you.All meals are freshly prepared using locally sourced produce and made on the premises. Menus are changed regularly to reflect seasonal produce and following discussion with service users.

You can choose to have your meals in the privacy of your own room or in the Dining Room. We would request if you have visitors during Meal times that they remain in your room until you are finished. Or you can have your meal with them in your room. Snacks, Tea Coffee and Juices are available at anytime over a 24hour period, within the Satellite Kitchens attached to every lounge. Your visitors can also use these to make you or themselves a snack.


All personal items of clothing are laundered on the premises, these must be clearly marked with your name and be suitable for Machine washing. We do not provide Dry Cleaning. We can assist in labeling your clothing items if you are having difficulty doing this. We cannot take responsibility for items of clothing that are not marked. All bed linen and towels are laundered outside the premises.

Medical Cover

You can retain your own G.P. Some G.Ps will only visit within their own areas. If you have to change G.P we can do this for you. Additional Services such as Dietician, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy can all be accessed if you require via your G.P.


The NHS Podiatrist visits the Home, many service users also use a Private podiatry service. We can arrange for them to visit if you wish. This is not covered in the Homes fees. And it will be your responsibility make arrangements to settle the account.

Dental Care

As with G.P. services you can retain your own Dentist. Or arrangements can be made for you to change if you require.


Again you can retain the services of your own optician. We are able to offer Service users the service of Vision called Optical Services, they visit the Home every 6 months to offer eye testing or sooner if required and can also provide hearing tests and advise on suitable aids if required .
